The search engine process starts with the design: What the search engines are looking for is incorporated as much as possible into the design of the main page (both viewable and non-viewable without breaking any of their rules). The main page is concentrated on because most search engines only want the main page submitted. Then their spiders go through your entire site or their editors review the site. If more than the main page is submitted, they may take that as attempting to spam their index and that could result in your domain being banned. Meta-tags and Title tag are also an important part of preparing for the search engines. Carefully chosen title, description and key-words are very important. There are also rules to be careful of not breaking. Some search engines will look at more than others, it is important to get the most pertinent words or wording in first. Overly repeated key words will be ignored. Submission: Your site is then submitted to the main search engines as follows (Some of these power many other search engines that are popular, some are stand-alone engines):
Another reason for checking every month is that in updating their (the search engines) data bases, some URLs are inadvertently dropped. When that happens your site needs to be re-submitted. In this process, we are careful not to submit too often or break their rules. If it is thought that we are trying to spam their index, your URL could be banned by that search engine. Your submitting your site to search in addition to what we are doing may do more harm than good. Reports: The reports you will receive will show you where and with which key words in which search engines your site is showing up. This software generates several reports which we review and then take appropriate action. The Software company that are using keeps up with what is going on in the Search Engine World and updates the software as required. They also send us newsletters which keeps us up on changes that take place with the different search engines and what they are looking for. We have had success in getting good placement for most of our clients. But we cannot (no one can) guarantee top placement with every key word in every search engine. There are pay-per-click search engines that you can bid for, but that can become costly.
